To the family - my deepest condolences. I just learned about his passing. Mr Lawlor was my Spanish teacher at LFHS in 1965-66. It was my 4th yr and a conversational class - all in Spanish. Some of my fondest memories are his comments at the beginning of class about the previous night's Batman episode - he would laugh and laugh as he described it.

A few months late, but something prompted me to look for news of you, Pirkko, and Joe. I was only a blip in your lives in Lake Forest, but I still remember the marvelous little faculty dance class you taught us—and the wonderful way you and Joe adopted me, the little beginning English teacher from Wisconsin, and made me feel appreciated and secure in my first job and my first "away" neighborhood! Thank you for that and for all the lovely memories of Joe and of you. And thank you for your contributions to the world in the areas I treasure most: culture and the arts, the soul of mankind!

Our deepest sympathy for the passing of a most distinguished patriarch. Our family has been personally touched by each of the Lawlor family and we will wear the loss of Joseph upon our hearts as well. Though he is physically gone, we will continue to see and feel his presence reflected in each of his children and grandchildren; specifically the sparkle of love that lights Pirkko's eyes. The beautiful expression of music, dance, and the arts is relayed no more lovingly, joyously, and humorously than by the Lawlor family. We are saddened to feel your heavy burden of grief. May you find comfort within each others presence. Sincerely, Joanne, Lauren, Melinda and the boys.

I will always remember and reflect the four aspects papa's life stood for for, music, knowledge, laughter, and family. His memory will live through us all. My thoughts and prayers go out to the entire family.

Dearest Pirkko, when I think of you and Joe, I remember our wonderful times going out to lunch, dinners at your home, and playing in the pool, Joe playing the piano, and singing with him.
These memories make me smile.

What a wonderful man we have lost. Memories are so important and my memories of Joe are such happy ones. I shall always see him playing the piano as we gathered around him singing familiar songs. The Lawlor family has my deepest sympathy. God bless.
