Margaret Risher, a devoted community member and Florida native, entered into rest on September 30, 2025, just days before her 89th birthday. Born on October 4, 1936, in Tampa, Florida, Margaret lived a life marked by grace, service, and a deep appreciation for beauty, tradition, and connection.
A proud alumna of Florida State University, Margaret studied fashion merchandising, where her eye for style and elegance first took root. In 1954, she pledged Delta Gamma, beginning a lifelong sisterhood and a bond with her alma mater that never faded. Throughout her life, Margaret remained active in Delta Gamma alumnae activities, cherishing the friendships and values she cultivated there.
Margaret later made her home in Winter Haven, where she became a member of the Women’s Club. She had a passion for antiques and décor.
Service to others was one of Margaret’s guiding principles. She was always eager to lend a hand—especially in efforts related to providing meals and shelter for those in need.
Margaret is survived by her daughter, Lisa Risher Moore, cousin Beth Crosby and her husband Tommy, as well as many other extended family members, Delta Gamma sisters, and friends in the community. She was preceded in death by her husband John Risher, and parents Marcus and Louise Donaldson.
A service to celebrate Margaret’s life will be held at Ott-Laughlin Funeral Home, 645 W Central Ave, Winter Haven, FL 33880 on Wednesday, October 8, 2025 from 5:00-8:00 PM. Margaret will be laid to rest on Thursday, October 9, 2025 at 12:00 PM at Myrtle Hill Memorial Park, 4202 E Lake Ave, Tampa, FL 33610.
Donations in Margaret’s memory may be made to the Delta Gamma Foundation.
