Martha Jean Sexton

Martha Jean Sexton, age 89, of Winter Haven, Florida entered into rest on Saturday, March 30, 2024. She leaves behind a legacy of warmth, kindness, and cherished memories that will forever remain etched in the hearts of all who knew her.

Born on October 21, 1934, Martha loved diligently crafting heartfelt letters to friends and family. She also enjoyed reading, cooking, and canning. On September 2, 1950, Martha married J.B. Worthington and together they raised their family until his passing. On May 5, 2004, Martha married her second husband, Leon Sexton.

Martha is survived by her sons, Byron Worthington (Charlotte), and Donnie Worthington (Maggie), as well as one brother, Willie Washington (Martha), and three grandchildren, one step-granddaughter, and six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, J.B. Worthington, second husband, Leon Sexton; parents, Lonny Washington and Rhodie Barkley Washington; as well as siblings, Edna Taylor, Grady Washington, and Bill Washington.

A visitation for Martha will be held Friday, April 5, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Ott-Laughlin Funeral Home, 645 W Central Ave, Winter Haven, Florida 33880, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 PM. Martha will be laid to rest at Lakeside Memorial Park.
