Merwin Lyle Guss, 86, died February 13, 2019 in Winter Haven, Florida. He was the 2nd of 9 children born to Glenn and Eula (Moritz) Guss, born July 25, 1932 in Taylor County Iowa near Guss. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Wanda (Downey) Guss of Winter Haven, Florida. Four children, son, Randal and Joan Guss, Millville, UT; daughters Lynne Guss, Aurora, CO; Layne and Faramarz Rahbar, Castro Valley, CA and Luanne and John Endreland of Ames, IA. 11 grandchildren: Amanda (Ryan) Meberg, Stillwater, OK; Kelly (Kara) Guss, Augusta, KS; Brian (Patty) Lindeman, Chesapeake, VA; Leila Rahbar (Wayne Flickenger), Oxford, PA; Jameela Rahbar (Joshua Schoenherr), Loveland, CO; Asad (Michelle) Rahbar, Austin, TX; Muhammed Rahbar, Walnut Creek; Yunus (Victoria) Rahbar, Seattle, WA; Marisa (Michael) Grimm, Alden, IA; Rachel Wright, Roland, IA and Kyle Endreland, Ames, IA. 24 great-grandchildren: Arika, Lauren and Rylee Meberg; Sineka Guss; Stephen & Tatiana Pereyra, Peter Lindeman; Sarah & Alayna Flickenger; Rehan, Arya & Ender Schoenherr; Sophie Rahbar; Ace, Bastian, Damian, Amaja, Nova, Blaze & Infiniti Grimm; Mikayla Endreland, Alexey, Victoria & William Wright. And two great-great-grandchildren: Kolbi Mastin & Cohen Eiskent. Also surviving are 3 step-children, Scott Van Gorp, China; Ronda Van Gorp, Marshalltown, IA; and Rob and Linda Van Gorp of Oklahoma City, OK. Two step-grandchildren: Bo Starn and Payton Van Gorp and one step-great-grandchild; Kennedi Starn.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Janet (Stroud) Guss; brother Ronald Guss; sisters Roma (Tom) Ingersoll; Shirley (Jird) Fidler; Janet (Laverne) Echternach; June Balog; and sister-in-law Wendy (Wayne) Guss. Also one son-in-law Gary Sigler (Luanne).
He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
He spent his youth and young adult life inTaylor County, Iowa, farming. He moved to the Ames area in the early 1960's working for the Clyde Black and Son Seed Farms. He and Janet moved to Oskaloosa in the early 1980's to work for the Pearson Brother's Seed Company. Janet passed away in 1985. He married Wanda in 1987.
Merwin and his wife, Wanda, retired and moved to Winter Haven, Florida.
