A Florida native, Micha graduated from Winter Haven High School before going on to earn her degree at Tulane University. She met her future husband, "Rip" Ewell, in Winter Haven. The newlyweds moved to Toledo where they raised their family before returning to Florida. Though Micha held many jobs during her life, she found her calling as an Activities Director for the Indian River Estates retirement community in Vero Beach, where she worked for many years prior to retiring to her home town of Winter Haven.
Micha was passionate about her family, the Church, and the performing arts. She supported her community by volunteering as a Museum Docent, being an active member of both PEO (Philanthropic Educational Organization) and the Junior League, and organizing numerous school and church activities.
Micha was a people-person, readily making connections and friendships throughout her life. She loved to throw a dinner party, or to host her bridge-buddies! Her special gift was motivating others to participate, engage, and create community. It was hard to say "no" to Micha!
Micha was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Clint "Rip" Ewell. She is survived by her brother, Tom Evans, son Clint (Penny), daughter Julia Compton (Paul), and niece Tory Bombard (Louie). Micha was also a very proud Grandma, who loved to brag about her grandsons from both Clint (Clint, Patrick, and Thomas) and Julia (Spencer).
A funeral service will be at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Winter Haven on Saturday, December 4th 2021 at 11 o'clock, followed immediately by a Celebration of Life Reception in the Parish Hall. Please join us to remember Micha and to share how she touched our lives.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that people wishing to express sympathy or honor Micha's memory consider making a contribution in her name to St. Paul's Episcopal Church.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.Ott-Laughlin.com for the Ewell family.
