Lake Wales- Patricia A. Murrell, age 65 (28 forever), of Lake Wales, FL passed away Friday, June 20, 2014 due to complications of renal failure. She was born February 5, 1949 in Tampa, FL the daughter of Leslie David Alderman and Gloria Gutierrez Alderman. She was the Supervisor of Foreign Languages with the Polk County School Board and retired after 24 years of service. She was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Winter Haven and was a founding member of the Endowment Committee. She was active in numerous charitable organizations.
Patricia graduated from Winter Haven High School in 1967 where she was homecoming queen and captain of the cheerleading squad. She received her Bachelor’s Degree from Florida State University in 1970 where she was a member of the Kappa Delta Sorority. She received her Master’s of Education Degree from Rollins College in 1972.
In addition to her parents, Patricia was preceded in death by her brother Thomas Alderman and nephew Jacob Alderman. She is survived by her husband, of 34 years, William H. Murrell Jr., children: William H. Murrell III (Leslie), Anna M. Bostick (Barrett), John Michael Murrell and Jeffrey Greer Murrell, grandchildren: Ava Louise Murrell, William H. Murrell IV and Mark Barrett Bostick, siblings: Leslie Alderman, Jr. (Janice), James Alderman (Kathy), Joseph Alderman (Penny), Marilyn Alderman, John Alderman (Paula) and Gigi Taylor (Clay).
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at 11:00 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church of Winter Haven, FL with Father Glenn Charest as the Celebrant. Burial will follow in the Fellowship Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Wimauma, Hillsborough County, FL. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. Joseph Catholic Education Endowment Fund.
