

Winter Haven - Phyllis Edith Romer, age 66, of Winter Haven, FL passed away Tuesday, January 24, 2012 due to heart disease. She was born to the late James and Peggy Nowlin, January 6, 1946 in West Palm Beach, FL. She graduated high school from Rosarian Academy in 1964 and received a B.A. in French from the University of Florida in 1970, She married Robert Romer in 1971, and after leaving Gainesville, FL they lived in Atlanta, GA and Jacksonville, FL, before relocating to Winter Haven in 1998.
Phyllis worked for a time at the Palm Beach Post-Times (now the Palm Beach Post), where she loved writing articles for the Women's Issue section. She recently retired from State Farm where she worked for thirteen years in the Imaging Department. Phyllis was an avid movie-goer, and she could be counted on to make great recommendations about countless films that had been on the silver screen.
Phyllis is survived by her loving husband Robert; her four children: Sean Romer of Atlanta, Guy Romer of Winter Haven, Elyse Barron of Jacksonville and Dianna Romer of Brooklyn, NY. She is also survived by three grandchildren.
The viewing , with open casket, will be Saturday, January 28, 2012 from 10-11 am at Ott-Laughlin Funeral Home, Winter Haven with funeral services at 11:00 am. Private graveside services will follow at Rolling Hills Cemetery.
