She was born September 19, 1940, to Devany and Willie Mae Beckham in Cedar Key, FL. Ten brothers and sisters and many relatives and friends filled her childhood and youth with activity, humor and song; she was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cedar Key; she starred on the girls’ high school basketball team from 1956-58.
On September 4, 1960, in Cedar Key, she married Edward Walker Jordan of Williston, FL, and they lived in ten different cities throughout the southeast U.S. as his career required. Wherever they lived, Reba created a loving home.
In 1972, the family moved to Winter Haven, where they lived as their three children completed high school, where they became members of First Baptist Church, and where Reba co-founded Jean and Reba’s Flower Shoppe.
Reba was a loving daughter, sister, wife, and friend. Her greatest source of pride and joy was her three children and six grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Edward of 57 years; her sons Ed (Debbie) Jordan of Temple Terrace and Mark (Libbie) Jordan of Orlando, and her daughter Marian (Donald) Sabiston of Apopka; her grandson Walker Jordan, and her granddaughters Caroline, Ginny, and Becky Jordan, and Lindsay and Lauren Sabiston; as well as Reba’s brothers Jerry Beckham of Cedar Key and Cris Beckham of Chiefland, and her sisters Shelby Ridgeway of Cedar Key and Gloria Beattie of Hawaii; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 10, at 11 am at Ott-Laughlin Funeral Home in Winter Haven.
