Rita Marcacci, 87, passed away quietly surrounded by her family and friends on November 12, 2015, after a brief illness. Rita was known by many as “Miss Rita”, particularly at her favorite coffee shop – Richard’s Fine Coffees. She was born in Switzerland on October 31, 1928 and became a naturalized citizen at age 27. She married John Marcacci and raised her four sons in the farming town of Vineland, New Jersey.
For the past twenty-five years she has been a resident of Florida, most recently living in the community of Winter Haven. She was known for her ability to make friends with everyone, no matter where she traveled. Rita lived a long and adventurous life and shared her wisdom and stories wherever she went. It was recently shared by someone who knew her well that “she never met a stranger”. Her friendships meant a great deal to her. We as a family would like to thank those of you who were apart of her life and for your friendships that enriched hers. Rita is survived by her sons: Tom, John, Ted and Steven Marcacci; her nine grandchildren; one great grandchild, and another on the way.
Services in her honor will be held Friday, November 20, 2015 at the First Presbyterian Church of Winter Haven. A gathering will be held at 10:00 AM, with the church service to begin at 11:00 AM and a church luncheon to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Rita’s memory can be made to First Presbyterian Church of Winter Haven for the benefit of their Soup Kitchen Ministry or Good Shepherd Hospice of Auburndale.
