Chambers, Robert Mark ("Bob"), 70, of Winter Haven and Ft. Pierce, Florida passed away of heart failure January 9, 2014. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ralph E. and Lois C. Chambers also of Winter Haven. Bob is survived by his son, Robert M. (Mark) Chambers, Jr. (Eva) of Houston, Texas and his brother John P. Chambers (Jan) of Temple Terrace, Florida. Bob is also survived by two nieces, Laura C. Thompson (David) and Amy C. Fitzsimmons (Kevin) and four great nieces and nephews all of Tampa and by his beloved lab dog Mack. Bob was a life-long resident of Winter Haven. He graduated from Winter Haven High School, Florida State University and The University of Florida’s College of Law. While there, he was a member of Florida Blue Key, Omicron Delta Kappa and Law Review. Bob practiced law in Polk County for more than 40 years. He was the first attorney in Polk to become a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers and, in 1990, was the first attorney in the 10th Circuit to become board certified in Marital and Family Law. Bob also volunteered his service to many committees of the Florida Bar and was quick to help a colleague who had a legal question or needed help in a case. When Bob was not reading up on the latest decision of the Florida Courts, or sparring with his fellow attorneys, he would find time to enjoy fishing, watching his Gators play or simply watching sunsets from the dock in Fort Pierce. Bob possessed the gifts of being a good listener, having a caring heart, yet demonstrating a firm stand for the cause of his client. He would talk to anyone, and always left them feeling important, appreciated and special. He was truly a southern gentleman and an admired, accomplished member of the Bar. He will be missed. GO GATORS!
Memorial Service will be held 12:30, Saturday, January 18, 2014 at First Presbyterian Church, 637 6th St. NW in Winter Haven. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675 in Bob's memory.
