Robert Louis Romer, 66, of Winter Haven, FL passed away Monday, March 24, 2014 due to complications from multiple sclerosis. He was born March 5, 1948 to Donald and Ruth Romer in Celina, OH, and spent portions of his childhood in California and Florida.
He graduated from Satellite High School in 1966 and received a B.A. in Advertising from the University of Florida in 1970. He married Phyllis Nowlin in 1971 in Gainesville, FL. He and Phyllis later lived in Atlanta, GA and Jacksonville, FL before relocating to Winter Haven in 1998.
Bob worked for 39 years at State Farm Insurance Company. His long tenure at State Farm involved him in disaster recovery after Hurricanes Hugo and Andrew, and he worked as Claim Team Manager before retiring in 2011.
Prior to being diagnosed with MS in 1992, Bob was an avid golfer and bowler. Throughout his life, he was a staunch supporter of the Florida Gators, an expert Scrabble player, and a gifted joke and storyteller.
Bob is survived by his mother, five sisters, two brothers, and by his four children, Sean, Guy, Elyse, and Diana. He is also survived by three grandchildren.
