Sandra Moody Weeks, known to many as Nana, was born to Julian and Eloise Moody on Sept 27, 1949, in Dillon, SC. She was called home to heaven on June 7, 2019. She was preceded in death by her parents and granddaughter, Meagan Barrow. Sandy was a long time resident of Winter Haven, FL, and worked as an administrative assistant in the medical field at both Winter Haven Hospital and Lakeland Regional Health Hollis Cancer Center before semi-retiring. After retirement, she stayed occupied by working along side her dear friend Bill Watson at Watson and Watson Realty.

Sandy was a very strong willed Southern lady that beat cancer 4 times in her life. She was elegant and old school with a heart the size of North Carolina. All who knew Sandy, knew her to be a loving person who valued her family. Her ability to grow anything and everything was well known. Many a pineapple from her own backyard were enjoyed by her friends and family. Sandy enjoyed being surrounded by her family and watching her family play in her pool but there was to be “no running” or “gommin and messin.” Sandy checked many items of off her bucket list including an Alaskan cruise and sky diving, but one of the greatest was finding true love. While she will be missed, her life lessons, love, and spirit will live on through all who knew her.

She is survived by her fiancé, Frank DeGiso, her son Lee (Elaine) Barrow, daughter Julia (Gary) Washington, brothers Steve (Robin) Moody and Bob (Jennifer) Moody, grandchildren Stephanie (Tyler) Manning, Stephen (Leeann) Hill, Donovan and Brenden Loftin, Rachel and Hannah Barrow, and great grandchildren Braxton Hill and Liam Manning as well as many extended family members.

Memorial service will be held June 22, 2019, at 2:00 pm at Ott-Laughlin Funeral Home 645 W Central Ave, Winter Haven, FL. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Susan G Komen For the Cure organization.

It still feels like this is a bad dream that i need to wake up from. In the few short years that I knew Sandy it was clear that she was an amazing woman who had been through much. I am so thankful for the time I was able to share with her. Thank you, Sandy, for raising and amazing daughter who I am privileged to call my best friend. You were such a strong woman and I admire you so much for that. You are loved and missed!

Iam so shocked. People like her aren't supposed to leave us. She was one of the sweetest kindest souls I knew. Nomatter how bad I messed up or wrong I did every time I seen her face she would have the biggest smile and hug. She was always putting others before herself and was one of the people I most admired and now be o e of the most missed. My condolences to the family but feel like I lost a very close member of my family as well.

I am sorry to learn of Sandy's passing but I know she is right where she wants to be. Sandy was a smiling beacon at Lakeland Regional Cancer Center, and she had a special connection with our patients since she understood their cancer journeys. She once told me that she did not know why the Lord made her experience cancer multiple times, but she knew He would get her through those trying times. Now that is a strong testimony of a woman of faith who loved her children and cherished her grandchildren. And she loved her coworkers and physicians at LRCC and was definitely part of our special family. While we are all in different places now, rest assured that Sandy looks down upon us with her warm and welcoming smile.

I met Sandy thru my sister Trish. When I would come to visit my sister or stay with our Mother while going thru cancer treatments. We would meet Sandy for lunch or stop to say Hey to Sandy after Mom's treatments. She always had a smile on her face & time to talk a minute no matter what was going on. Please know that my thoughts & prayers are going out to friends & family. God give you comfort. Debbie

Sandy was a very special lady. She welcomed me into her home and let me pick fresh oranges from her orange tree for breakfast. She was always kind and funny and I will always have the utmost respect for her. Much love to Julz and Lee because I can't imagine the hurt you're feeling now. My heart hurts with you today. I promise to have a special quiet moment in her honor on the 22nd since I'm in Ohio and can't attend the memorial.

Much love,
Leslie

Sandy was a dear friend of mine for 22 years. We helped each other get through life’s ups and downs. We loved our girlfriend time shopping, going out for lunch or dinner and talking about our families. I will treasure all the memories we shared together and you will always be one of my besties. Love you girl!!

Sandy was one of the first people I met in 2002 when I started work at LRCC. She was always a very helpful and gracious lady and was loved by all her friends. This news is devastating and I pray for her family to find peace in that love. God Bless You All.
