Thomas Terrell Aleck Sr., 71, went to be with his Lord as he slept on May 13, 2018 during his stay at Grace in Lake Wales, FL. He was a lifelong resident of Waverly, FL for most of his life. He directed the maintenance department at Vanguard boarding school for twenty-two years before retiring in 2007. He will be missed by the staff of Grace along with his family who will remember him being a cheerful uncle, father, and husband.
Some of his favorite hobbies included fishing in the ocean, making arrow heads and jewelry from stones, collecting knives and swords, watching Disney movies, and praying with the staff and residents of Grace Nursing Home.
His influence can be seen in his wife, children, and his many nieces and nephews along with their children. His motto in life was to love the lord and live for the simple pleasures of life – just like his favorite song from his favorite Disney movie – the Jungle Book. While he may not be here in the physical realm – he is with us and watching from heaven – proud of his family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Paul Aleck Sr. and Susie Mae Aleck; his brothers and sisters, Paul Aleck Jr., Carl Aleck, Geneva A. Gilmore, and Margaret A. Sumner.
He leaves behind many people who will miss him dearly; his wife, Constance Margaret Aleck; their children, Thomas Terrell Aleck Jr., Vena Sue Marguerite Hunter; Mr. Aleck’s in-laws, Marguerite Rignall, Sandy Watson, Kathy and Keith Stanley, Amy and Jason Bingham and their children, Ingrid and Greg Watson, and Erica and Orleni; his nephews, Greg Aleck, Bud Aleck, Bart Aleck, and Scotty Sumner and his nieces Pam Barber, Harlie Sumner, Lindsey Cornish and Carla Chin along with her children: Natalie Chin-Watson, Gurnos Watson and their children, Alexis Chin, Whitney Pringle and her children; and many cousins including Halie Sumner and Johnathan Sumner; Mrs. Hunter’s family, Zachary John Hunter, Ryan E. Hunter, Travis A. Hunter (son-in-laws), Hannah Hunter (mother-in-law), Miriam Souder (grandma-in-law); and extended family including Jean Killingsworth, Tim Camper, Joan Camper and their children.
A small ceremony with family will be held sometime in September. Details about the date, time, and location of the ceremony are TBA.
