

Walter A. Maier, aged 78, peacefully passed away on June 5th, 2024, surrounded by his beloved family, just as he lived his life. Born in New York and raised in the warm embrace of Florida as a child, Walter's journey was one of enduring love and devotion.
Walter graduated from Forest Lake Academy and continued his education at Union College and then Southern Adventist University (formerly Southern Missionary College), where he met the love of his life, Mabel.
He was preceded in death by his father Albert, his mother Anna, and his sister Marlene. Walter is survived by his devoted wife Mabel, son Joey (Carylanne), daughter Cindy (Alan), adopted son Donnie (Sheila), and sister-in-law Alice Mae. His legacy continues through his cherished grandson Chase, niece Lindi, and nephew Davey.
Throughout 57 years of marriage, Walter and Mabel epitomized steadfast love, resilience, and unwavering commitment. Their bond was a shining example of the enduring power of love, a source of inspiration to all who knew them.
Walter embarked on his journey with the Seventh-day Adventist Church as a literature evangelist in 1974. He further distinguished himself by serving as a Publishing Director, in the Texaco, Rocky Mountain and Ohio conferences, a role that showcased his leadership and commitment to spreading the church's message. His unwavering devotion to servant leadership was further recognized when he was ordained on May 28, 1982. For half a century, Walter devoted himself to sharing the gospel, leaving an indelible mark on our hearts, the church, and its mission.
In retirement, Walter and Mabel embarked on countless journeys, from the rugged wilderness of Alaska to the cultural richness of Germany, the vibrant landscapes of Mexico, and the tropical paradise of Hawaii, punctuated by many leisurely cruises. An avid enthusiast of gospel music, Walter found profound joy in its melodies. Together with Mabel, they traveled across the southeastern United States, enjoying soul-stirring concerts. Their travels introduced them to a multitude of wonderful people, many of whom became cherished friends. Walter's warmth and genuine kindness made him a comforting presence in the lives of all who knew him, earning him the affectionate nickname "Uncle Wally."
In this time of profound loss, we find solace, knowing that Walter's memory lives on in the hearts of all who were touched by his kindness, generosity, and faithfulness. May we take comfort in the cherished memories we shared with Walter and find peace in the hope of a joyful reunion in the presence of our Heavenly Father. Let us lift our hearts in prayer, celebrating a life well-lived.
