Born in Hong Kong, on March 1, 1935, to Chow Kim Wan and Tam Wai Ching, Allan was the eldest of 7 siblings. He attended the prestigious Pui Ching High School in nearby Macau and later graduated from National Taiwan University with a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering. A devoted Christian, Allan then left for the US to continue his involvement in the Christian broadcasting field while furthering his education. He received his M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from Clemson University and completed coursework towards a Ph.D. in Communication Theory and Probability Theory from the Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn (NYU).
A bright and creative visionary, Allan had an accomplished career full of innovation and invention. His professional contributions spanned over 40 years and began at Westinghouse, with the majority of his time spent at DuPont/Dade Behring as a Principal Engineer. Allan’s ingenious concepts and ideas produced 8 patents. His designs leveraged his exceptional knowledge in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, chemistry, and software application, leading to a number of commercial products in the medical and scientific fields.
Allan had a lifelong, deep appreciation and love for music. He was a gifted tenor who once sang in Carnegie Hall, and was also a self-taught pianist. Blessed with his musical talent and his Christian faith, Allan performed many solos as a member of the church choir. Allan's other enjoyments included travelling, camping, fishing, and tinkering in his workshop; his varied interests and genuine curiosity created many fun adventures for the family.
