Anna Alice Gedrys

February 14, 1922June 7, 2018

Anna Gedrys passed away peacefully on June 7, 2018 at the age of 96.

She was the first child of Thomas and Eugenia St. Germain and raised in Worcester, MA.

She was predeceased by her husband of 49 years Peter Gedrys and her 4 siblings.

Anna is survived by her companion of 16 years Philip Belanger, Celeste Rossi, Teri Gedrys and husband Charles Russo, Peter Gedrys and wife Kathy, 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Anna raised her family in Northford, CT. After her retirement from Pratt & Whitney Anna & Peter moved to Orlando, FL in 1986.

Anna was a working mother and the original energizer bunny. If she was moving you better not be sitting around.

Anna enjoyed tennis, ice skating, walking, exercising, swimming and dancing. She was always ready for a party, would initiate many and be the life of the party. She was spontaneous. Remembering how she would crash our baseball games. Run into the street, get the bat and slam one down the street passed all the kids. Always a home run.

She taught us how to climb trees, make mud pies, ice skate but never taught us how to cook. She had a reputation about her cooking – NOT! She would read directions after the food was cooking. One experience when her daughters were making a cake she thought it looked awful. She grabbed a handful of cake and smashed it into Teri’s face. Retaliation was in order. Anna, Celeste an Teri proceeded to have the best food fight.

Peter nicknamed her The Warden when we were teenagers. She would bark out orders that were not to be ignored.

Anna’s memorial service will take place at Chapel Hill Cemetery in Orlando, FL, at 10 am on June 30, 2018.

In lieu of flowers please honor Anna’s wishes and make donations to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.

You always had your hair done on Saturday mornings. Fast forward to 2017 and your hairdresser came to your room for your weekly appointment. You refused! In fact she came back several times and you refused again. Gina and I arrived after the 3rd denial and tried to convince you to take advantage. You looked us in the eye and told us you were not going and that was the end of story. Gina asked if you were just being spiteful. You gave her a sly smile and said yes you were. We all had a great laugh. Miss you so much.

What happens when a 21 year old and a 73 year old become roommates? You realize you are the same person and form the most wonderful bond. Love and miss you always Grandma.

Ann and Peter Gedrys were my Godparents. Ann always fulfilled her responsibility, I think. She always took an interest in me. We became good friends throughout the years. She always made me laugh; she inspired me with her work ethic, her exercise routine, and her ability to move forward. She was of the WWII generation- those who buckled down, got the job done and did not complain ( except when it came to cooking.) I will miss you, Ann. We will ALL miss you. Rest in peace, my Dear.
