Arcadio B. Gonzalez, Sr. (Icky), 86, of Orlando, Florida, was born in Guayanilla, Puerto Rico, left us on April 3, 2021 at Advent Health Winter Park Hospital.

He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend.  He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran who served during the Korean War (1955-1962) as a Ground Radio Operator. There he met the love of his life, Eraida Acosta and married 65 years.

After the military he moved to New York City, where he worked for Con Edison as an Underground Cable Splicer. He relocated to Miami, Fl in 1979 and became a Correctional Officer for Metro-Dade Corrections, where he retired in 1997.

Fishing and sports were some of his favorite pastimes.  Family gatherings brought out the best in him, as he was all about family.  The New York Yankees was his favorite team and when he could not see them in person, he loved watching them on T.V.

Later in his life he discovered the joy of cruising.  Having taken many cruises, he always looked forward to the next one.  Disney seemed to be his favorite cruise line, and his many cruises made him a well-seasoned cruiser.  He loved Verandahs.

He was the “Patriarch of the Gonzalez family” and treated all members of his family as individuals.  He took great pride in his family and would constantly brag about all of them.

He was survived by his devoted wife Eraida Gonzalez; 6 children, Arcadio B. Gonzalez, Jr. (Lorre), Alex Gonzalez, Lulu Gonzalez, all of Orlando, Fl, Benito Gonzalez of Fort Meyers, Fl, Aida Ortiz of Miami, Fl, and Madeline Ellis (Marc) of Youngstown, Oh.; He also leaves 16 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, two sisters, Lilly Gonzalez and Irma Rivera; two brothers Ruben Gonzalez and Carlos Gonzalez along with many other relatives and friends.

Everyone who touched his life made him a better person and as such he always paid it forward.  He will be remembered and missed by all.  May he Rest in Peace.

To My Dad, my hero, my mentor, my friend. My lifelong teacher and Father, words cannot express how much I will miss you. The life’s lessons you taught me will forever be engraved in my heart. You are free of pain and suffering and for that we thank GOD. I will do my best to carry your name and legacy forward to the next generation and the generations to come. Please know that we await the day when we will see you again and rejoice in being one family again. For now there is a void in our lives that can never be filled, but it will heal.
I love you so much! Rest In Peace my Father.

Icky has just passed to the next level of our journey back to our creator. He will continue to be in the hearts and memories of his loved ones and everyone who knew him. My prayers and thoughts are with his wife, Eraida, who shared her life and his 65 years ago, his children, grandchildren, and other members of the family.
RIP, Arcadio

All my memories of my cousin are nothing but great ones. The Bond this man had with me and my father is like no other.

He never seemed to have a worry in the world and lived for the day. He loved his wife and kids and his grandkids greatly.

He was the man that introduced me to night fishing when I moved to Florida, and always had his door open to me if i needed to talk to someone.

Live in peace cousin, because your with God and the family who left before you. I love you and I hope our family greeted you at Heavens Gate with Music, laughter and eternal Love.

Until we meet again, watch over us all.
