Arthur Clark Crichton, of Winter Park, Florida left with the angels and was received into God’s loving arms on Thursday May 7, 2020. Art was born on July 10, 1930 in Uniontown, Pennsylvania. Art proudly reached the status of Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts. Art graduated from Uniontown High School. Art graduated from The Ohio State University in 1953 and served in the U.S. Army at Fort Belvoir, VA. In 1958 Art married Sarah “Sally” Reichard and they were married for more than 61 years. Art was licensed as a nursing home administrator in Ohio and served as assistant and later acting administrator of Lutheran Senior City in Columbus before moving to Winter Park, Florida in 1974.
Art was licensed as a nursing home administrator in Florida and was the Administrator of The Plymouth Senior Apartments in Winter Park from 1974 to 2005. Art was a member of the Board, and instrumental in obtaining the funding, that developed the Mayflower Retirement Center in Winter Park, where he became a resident in 2016. Art was active in the Winter Park Rotary Club where he served as treasurer for many years. Art also served on the Board of the Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center in Orlando. Art was predeceased by his beloved parents, Merton Wygant and Sofi Clark Crichton and his step-granddaughter Nicole Cafarella Bernard. Art is survived by his beloved wife, Sarah “Sally” R. Crichton, and daughter Carolyn (Richard) Crichton Cafarella of Winter Park Florida, his brother Merton James (Nancy) of Centerville, Ohio, his brother-in-law Harold (Gladys) Reichard, of Palmyra, Pennsylvania, his step-grandson U.S.C.G. Chief Michael Cafarella of Belle Chasse, Louisiana, several nieces and nephews and 7 Great-Grand Children. Art will be interred in Palm Cemetery, Winter Park, Florida. The family will hold services at a later date due to COVID-19 restrictions on travel and gathering.
