She was born September 16, 1938 in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Ferdinand J. and Mazetta V. (Keene) Riegler.
Barbara graduated from Plymouth Whitemarsh High School in Pennsylvania, class of 1956. Afterward, she attended Northwestern College for one year. In 1958, she married Charles A. Copley, and they immediately moved to Florida and began their family. They were married for 65 years before Charlie passed away in 2023.
When their kids were young, Barbara was a Cub Scout, Brownie, and Girl Scout leader. Her daughters will always remember how she weekly reminded the girls they could have “one juice and two cookies.”
A Christian, Barbara faithfully taught Sunday school for many years, even into her 70s. She also fondly remembered years of helping with the Bus Ministry and leading Vacation Bible School with local area apartment kids back in the 70s. For several years, she volunteered for a local food pantry.
Barbara worked as an Orange County Clerk of the Court for 28 years before retiring in 2005. She always gave credit to God for getting her that job, surpassing any typing test she had ever had.
In addition to her parents, Barbara was predeceased by her sister, Pamela, and two brothers, Russell and Gregory. She is survived by her brother Douglas Riegler (Daria) of Maryland, as well as her daughters, Andrea Franklin (Brian), Deanna Copley, Colleen Berry (Paul), son Eric Copley who lives in Missouri, grandchildren Scott Franklin, Amanda Shoopman (Andrew), Holly Berry, and Elijah Berry, and great grandson Frederick Shoopman, all living in Central Florida.
Barbara had a good sense of humor, took great care of her home, and enjoyed reading books and listening to music. She was loved deeply by her family and will be greatly missed. No formal services are scheduled.
