Bernard was received into God’s loving arms on Tuesday, August 18, 2015 surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on March 29, 1942 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of the late Margaret and Bernard Dempsey Sr. He graduated from the College of the Holy Cross and received a Jurisprudence Doctorate from Georgetown Law. He went on to practice law in Tampa where he was a Federal Prosecutor until establishing his private practice in Winter Park, Florida.
Survivors include his children Bernard Hayden Dempsey III (Angela), Kathleen Dempsey Lehr (John), Matthew Beirne Dempsey, Rose Dempsey Domin (Nate), John Paul Saboor (Stephanie), Alexandra CT Dempsey, and Anastasia MC Dempsey (Brooks) and grandchildren Jack, Emily, Caroline, Sam, Hayden, Aiden, Charlie, Tully, and Cynthia.
Bernard was a devout Catholic, an accomplished attorney in the art of law, and a strong family man.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife Cynthia Tavrides Dempsey in 2012.
A Mass will be held for Bernie on Friday, August 21, 2015, 11:00 am at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, 526 N. Park Avenue, Winter Park, FL with Father Walsh celebrating and Father Gonzalez concelebrating. Interment will follow in Palm Cemetery, Winter Park. Family and friends will be received on Thursday, August 20, 2015 (TODAY) from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Baldwin Fairchild Lake Ivanhoe Chapel, 301 NE Ivanhoe Blvd, Orlando.
