Catalina Bunda Dietschy

Born on March 10, 1930, in the Philippines to Policarpo Tillano Bunda (1882–1962) and Macaria Bautista Bunda (1894–2002), Catalina lived a remarkable life that took her from the Philippines to New York, Africa, Austria, and ultimately Florida.

Catalina was the beloved wife of the late Roger Yves Dietschy (1924–2013); loving mother to Dominique Dietschy Biazzo of West Chester, Pennsylvania, and Philippe Dietschy of Clermont, Florida. She was the cherished grandmother of Kayla Dietschy Cavanagh, Sarah Carmany Rudolph, and Breanna Carmany Anderson. She also shared her home and affection with her beloved cat, Coco.

Catalina was one of ten children. She is survived by her younger brother, Gregorio Bunda of Chicago, Illinois. (Siblings, in birth order, were: Blandina Bunda Caraveo, Natividad B. de Leon, Teodora Bunda, Nemesio Bunda, Engracia B. Viray, Cresencia B. Osborne, Romana Bunda, Maura Bunda, Catalina B. Dietschy, and Gregorio Bunda.)

After graduating from the University of the East in Manila, Catalina moved to the United States and began a career as an Executive Secretary and Administrative Assistant with the United Nations in New York City. Her work took her to the Congo for a brief U.N. assignment before she returned to New York and married Roger.

Together, Catalina and Roger raised their two children, Dominique and Philippe, in Oak Ridge, New Jersey. In the 1970s, Roger’s work with the United Nations brought the family to Vienna, Austria, where they lived for five years. Catalina embraced their years abroad and became active in the Vienna chapter of the United Nations Women’s Guild.

After returning to the United States, the family settled in Tarrytown, New York. Catalina later resumed part-time work as Secretary to the Dean of Marymount College in Tarrytown before she and Roger eventually relocated to Florida following his retirement.

Catalina had a creative spirit and a wonderful eye for beauty. In her younger years, she loved to dance, and throughout her life she enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and painting. In retirement, she especially delighted in decorating and redecorating her homes. From St. Augustine to Windermere, Ocoee, and Clermont, each new home gave Catalina another opportunity to create a beautiful and welcoming space uniquely her own.

Above all, Catalina will be remembered for the life she built, the places she experienced, the creativity she expressed, and the family she loved. Her long life was filled with change, adventure, family, and countless memories that will continue to be cherished by those who knew and loved her.

Catalina’s family extends its deepest gratitude to Deborah for the loving care, compassion, patience, and kindness she showed to their beloved mother. Her care brought comfort not only to Catalina, but also to the family.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Catalina’s life on September 3, 2026, at Baldwin-Fairchild Funeral Home, 7520 Aloma Ave Winter Park, FL 32792, at 10:00 a.m.

A brief graveside service and interment will follow at Glen Haven Memorial Park, 2300 Temple Dr Winter Park, FL 32789. Following the services, family and friends are welcome to return to Baldwin-Fairchild for light refreshments before departing.
