Charles is survived by his children, Linda Cattaneo Guest, Brian Charles Cattaneo and Kathryn Miriam Reeves. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joanne, and his daughter Carol.
Charles was born in Norwalk, CT. He graduated from Harding High School in 1948 and went on to attend Clarkson College where he graduated in 1951 with a degree in Electrical Engineering; and later earned his MBA. Charles worked at Martin Marietta for over 40 years until he retired at age 65. He also worked part-time as an instructor at Rollins College.
Charles married Joanne Rose Korzie in 1954. They welcomed Carol Marie Polk in 1957, Linda Cattaneo Guest in 1959, Brian Charles Cattaneo in 1960, and Kathryn Miriam Reeves in 1964. Charles is survived by his grandchildren: Dale E. Polk, III, Rachel Polk Wied, Jeremy A. Guest, Jared A. Guest, Daniel J. Reeves and Nicholas C. Reeves; and great-grandchildren Kennedy Polk, Parker Guest, Laney Wied, Preston Guest, Bryson Wied and Dale E. Polk, IV.
Charles’ first love was singing in the church choir starting at the age of 11. He sang for the St. Mary Magdalen choir for over 50 years. He enjoyed working at swim meets as a timer, starter, and stroke and turn judge as well as watching his children compete. In his later years, he enjoyed traveling and continuing to learn about the world around him. Special memories include his relationship with Nancy Hartman as his traveling companion and best friend, as well as time spent with the entire Hartman family.
A Funeral Mass for Charles is scheduled for Friday, April 16th, 1pm at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church in Altamonte Springs, FL. It will be followed by a 2:30pm graveside committal ceremony at Glen Haven Memorial Park in Winter Park, FL.
