

Charles Sainesbury Read, Jr. passed peacefully into the loving arms of Jesus Christ, his Lord and Savior, on Monday, September 29, 2025 at the age of 84. A native of New Smyrna Beach, Florida, Chuck was born June 15, 1941 to Charles Sainesbury Read and Hildred Gilliam Read. He graduated from New Smyrna Beach High School and then attended Daytona Junior College.
Always a hard worker, Chuck started delivering newspapers on his bicycle at the age of 9. He worked as Chief Engineer at Electronic Products and Engineering, Inc. in New Smyrna Beach for several years and then as Plant Manager at Marshall Manufacturing Corp. in Lewisburg, Tn. He was employed by Lockheed Martin Corp. in Orlando as a Senior Engineer for 25 years, specializing in electro-optics. In 1980, he received the “Roll of Honor” award, citing the top 100 employees. After retirement, Chuck enjoyed working as a Financial Advisor.
Growing up in New Smyrna Beach, he loved the beach, especially fishing and boating. An avid golfer, he enjoyed playing as a member of the Country Club of Orlando for many years. He was also a private pilot and loved flying his Cessna 182. Chuck lived a full blessed life, guided by his Lord. He was a loving and devoted father and husband. He loved studying the Bible, attending Bible Study Fellowship classes for many years and was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church in Winter Park.
Chuck is survived by his wife of 40 years, Jill Tucker Read, his children Deborah Seufferlein (Jim), Beverly Janka (Randy), Laurie Read, Charles Read lII (Valerie), and Jennifer Read, his grandchildren Joshua Read, Alexandra Roffee (Andrew), Bethany Janka, Victoria Long (Charlie), Christopher Seufferlein, Michael Seufferlein, Takara Singh Read, and Georgia Read, and his great grandchildren Nathan Roffee and Jameson Roffee.
A Celebration of Life will be held at All Saints Episcopal Church, Winter Park, Fl on Monday, October 13 at 3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to All Saints Episcopal Church, 338 East Lyman Ave., Winter Park, Fl. 32789. Arrangements for Chuck have been entrusted to Baldwin-Fairchild Funeral Home, Winter Park, Fl.
