Donald H. Blowers, 74, passed away in his sleep at home on May 11, 2011, after a battle with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. He was born in Mayfield, New York, on February 16, 1937, to Harold and Hazel Blowers. He had a distinguished career in the dairy farming business and in the 1970’s he and his family moved to Deland, Florida, where they ran the Lazy H Dairy. He met Nina Gay Hanson, who had five children, and they married in 1973 and moved to Longwood, Florida. He was a jack of many trades and given his experience with the refrigerated trucks used in the dairy business he began working for the T.G. Lee dairy in Orlando and later for Coca-Cola. He is preceded in death by his parents, his younger brother, Robert Lee Blowers, and his wonderful wife, Nina Gay Blowers. He is survived by his cousins, Nila Edwards and Doris Gage, who reside in New York, and by the five grateful stepchildren he selflessly and graciously helped raise: Michael, Marty, Mitchell, and Matthew Hanson, and Melodi Hanson-Brubaker. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Casey, Lesley-Anne, Madison, Hope, Harley, Darin, and Michelle, as well as three great grandchildren, Margaret, Melanie, and Marcus. A gathering will be held at the Carey Hand Cox-Parker Funeral Home (1350 West Fairbanks Avenue, Winter Park, Florida) this Friday, May 13th at 5:00 p.m., and a subsequent service will be held in his hometown of Mayfield, New York.
Arrangements under the direction of Carey Hand Cox-Parker Funeral Home, Winter Park, FL.
