Elizabeth (Lisa) Rivera Becerra, age 56, passed away on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at Florida Hospital South in Orlando, FL. She was born August 11, 1962 in Bronx, NY to Leonides (Chelo) and Martha (Ruiz) Rivera. Elizabeth was raised in Staten Island, NY and lived in White Plains, NY for 15 years before relocating to Orlando in 2000, where she lived until her passing. She earned an Associate’s Degree in Business from The Wood School in 1982 and a Bachelors Degree in Business from Pace University in 1985.
Left to honor her memory are Elizabeth’s 2 children, Alexandra, 24, born in 1994 and Rickardo, 28, adopted as a toddler in 1995. They were both Elizabeth’s greatest source of pride and joy.
In addition to her parents and children, Elizabeth is survived by her granddaughter, Caroline, 2, and younger siblings Evelyn Rivera Melendez, David Rivera, Susan Rivera-Ortiz, Jose Rivera, Manuel Gonzalez and cousin Rebecca Ruiz Wright, who is as close as a sister. Elizabeth also leaves behind many uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. She is also survived by the father of her children, Euriel Becerra, to whom she was married 1994 - 2004.
Elizabeth worked as Administrative Assistant at Campus Crusade for Christ, Inc. until she became disabled in 2012. She then became a Certified Wedding Planner, helping new brides and grooms plan the events of their lifetime.
Elizabeth loved cruising and enjoyed cruise vacations several times in recent years.
Elizabeth had many happy memories of her childhood and young adult years. She played violin in Junior High School and practiced every weekend to prepare her for her musical debut playing violin at NYC’s Carnegie Hall! She also had fond memories of her time in Trinity Presbyterian Church’s Youth Group. But, most notable among Elizabeth’s favorite memories of her early childhood was how fortunate she and her siblings were to have lived with their grandparents, who took them to church and instilled in them all a strong faith and love of God. Indeed, she carried this faith with her throughout her life.
