Born in Miami, Florida, Elsworth (Al) lived in various places around the world and took a piece of all of them with him throughout his life. The true definition of a public servant, he was drafted at age 18, learned how to fly at age 22 and served in two wars. He joined the Army and the Air Force, volunteered in the Coast Guard and as a firefighter. He loved animals just as much as he loved people. He lit up any room he entered and was always the first to crack a joke and make everyone feel at ease. He spent his retirement with his family, whipping up pancakes, playing hide and seek with his grandkids, and greeting every dog that crossed his path. Al was preceded in death by his first wife, Bonnie, and beloved dog, Spot. He is survived by his wife, Sally Lagoy, his two sons, Ryan and Brian Hussey, five grandchildren, Elizabeth, Grayson, Briley, Nicole and Lane, one great grandchild, Hailey Gray and five grandpuppies, Mina, Teddy, Libby, Otis and Duck, and two grandkitties, Zip and Bitty. Friends and family are invited to celebrate his life at McLaurin Funeral Home in Clayton on February 6th at 3pm and Al will be laid to rest in a Military service held in Winter Park, Florida on February 10th.
