Emily Beacham (Beachy) Harrell passed away on Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at the age of 78 from a brain tumor. Beachy was preceded in death by her second husband, Robert (Bob) Harrell, who passed in 2008; parents Emily Beacham and Patillo Moss Taylor. Beachy’s surviving family includes sister Eugenia (Gene) Danque of Columbia, SC, daughter Emily Taylor Perkins, husband Larry Wydetic of Tampa, FL, and grandchildren Taylor and Grace and Mitchell; daughter Margaret Perkins Alhart, husband Peter of Bend, OR, and grandchildren Kaitlin and Kyle; and son Will Beacham Perkins of Winter Park, FL; stepdaughter Susan Harrell Cardaci and husband Sal of Windemere, FL and grandson David, wife Vanessa of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; grandson Drew, wife Annie, great grandson Oaks of Windemere, FL; stepson Robert Harrell, Jr., wife Lee of Alton, NH, and grandchildren Will, wife Stephanie of Houston, TX; Melissa, husband Jeremy Aljoe of Houston, TX; Stephanie, husband Jared Flynn, great grandson Andrew of Houston, TX; Allison, husband Russell Hodges of Houston, TX; stepson Peter Harrell, wife Tammy of Rockford, MI and grandchildren Mikaela, Samatha and Ryan. Beachy was born in Greenville, SC on May 24, 1937 where she grew up and graduated from Greenville HS in 1955. Beachy went to business school and worked as a legal secretary before marrying William E. Perkins, Jr. and moving to Orlando to start her family. While raising her children, Beachy became involved in her community through the Junior Sorosis Club and the PTA. She was an avid tennis player and has enjoyed the company of her monthly bridge group for over 50 years. After raising her children she went back to work in 1982 for the Orlando Health Foundation where she met Bob Harrell and they married in 1989. Bob introduced Beachy to the game of golf and they split their time between their golf community homes in Florida and Hound Ears in North Carolina. Beachy took to golf in a big way serving the women’s golf group in many leadership roles and winning many awards, accolades, tournaments and even acquiring a few hole in ones throughout the last 25 years. Beachy and Bob enjoyed their golden years together by traveling the world and helping others, they have been generous philanthropic supporters, dedicated volunteers and close friends of Orlando Health. Beachy was a hospital volunteer at ORMC for over 25 years. Bob and Beachy expanded their fundraising to help their area hospital in NC, Appalachian Reginal Hospital in Boone. Beachy has recently served as president of her North Carolina Hound Ears condo association and was an ongoing board member at Mead Botanical Gardens in Winter Park where she was an avid and passionate fundraiser. A memorial service will be held on Monday, October 5, at 2pm, also at First United Methodist Church of Orlando, 142 E.
