Evelyn was born in Brooklyn, NY on October 14, 1935. She grew up in Brooklyn and married her childhood sweetheart, Charlie on May 25, 1957. Charlie and Evelyn initially moved to Germany as part of his government job, later moved to Binghamton, NY in 1960, and relocated to their forever home in Winter Park in 1965. Evelyn was the original stay at home mom and took care of the kids and the household while Charlie traveled the world for his position with the Government. Evelyn helped watch her grandkids and a great granddaughter for a short period of time before she was diagnosed with dementia. Evelyn was loved and surrounded by her family when she peacefully joined our Lord and her husband.
She is survived by her children: Christine Galante (Jeff); Kathie Hunter (Rex); Mark Wagenhauser (Vikki). His beloved grandchildren include Valerie Forbes (Brian), Michael Galante (Alyssa), Jessica Greene (Tim), Matthew Hunter (Megan), Brandon Wagenhauser, and Kayci Taylor (Spencer). Evelyn was also blessed with her great-grandchildren Makenna and Eden Forbes, Harper and Kinsley Galante, and Parker and Avery Greene.
Every member of her family from kids to great-grandchildren brought her great pride and joy. Evelyn had a passion for bowling, jigsaw puzzles (the harder the better), Sudoku (or any number game), the Atlanta Braves, never missed an episode of The Young and the Restless, and built a beautiful life with Charlie.
She was the matriarch of her family and leaves behind a legacy that will be sorely missed and treasured.
Visitation will be held on Friday, September 27, at 9am with the funeral service to follow at 10am. Funeral arrangements will be held at Baldwin Fairchild Funeral Home, 7520 Aloma Avenue, Winter Park, FL.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations in Evelyn’s name be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association or Advent Health Hospice Care.
