Francisco Perez passed away peacefully on March 31, 2016 at the Hospice of the Comforter in Altamonte Springs, Florida at the age of 77 years old. He was born on May 28, 1938 in Santurce, Puerto Rico to Francisco Perez, a merchant marine, and Natalia Rios, a nurse. He eventually moved to the Bronx, New York in December 1946. Having lived in the Bronx, Manhattan and Brooklyn, New York would be his home for the next 53 years. In 1957, he met Myrna Rios of Brooklyn, New York. The two would marry on September 16, 1961 and they remained married for 54 ½ years. During their marriage Francisco and Myrna had three children, Medarys, Francisco & George Perez. He would eventually become a grandfather for the first time with the birth of his granddaughter, Myrna Perez. Francisco eventually moved with his family to Orlando, Florida in 1999, where he lived until his passing. During this time, he would gain a daughter-in-law, Aline Perez, and two more grandsons, Nathaniel and Joshua Perez. Francisco was a hardworking man, having worked for 30 years repairing and installing telephone lines for the New York Telephone Company (now Verizon). He was an active participant in the Boy Scouts, the Assemblies of God Church, and was a member of the New York State National Guard from 1956 to 1959. Francisco was known as hard working, trustworthy and a family man, always putting the interests of his family first. His devotion to his family was second only to his devotion to the Lord Jesus Christ. He loved movies, television, photography, history, camping, model building, trains, toy soldiers, sports card collecting and traveling. He is survived by his wife, Myrna Perez; children Medarys Perez, Francisco Perez and George Perez; daughter-in-law Aline Perez; grandchildren Myrna Perez, Nathaniel Perez and Joshua Perez; sisters Aida L. Perez, Josephine Perez-Wagner and Francis Perez; brothers Luis Perez and Nestor Perez; and various nieces and nephews. A memorial will be held at Faith Assembly of God, 2740 E. Michigan St., Orlando, FL 32806 on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at 4 P.M.; and he will be laid to rest at the Chapel Hill Cemetery, 2400 Harrell Road, Orlando, FL 32817. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Hospice of the Comforter.
