Beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, George Edward Karres, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, March 8, 2016. Born in Salem, Ohio, on November 18, 1922, he proudly served in the U.S. Army Air Corps throughout WWII before being the first in his family to attend college. He received degrees from Albion College, University of Michigan, and Northwestern University. In August, 1950, George married his college sweetheart, Jean, and then embarked on his career as an electrical engineer. He moved to Florida in 1959 when he joined the Martin Marietta Company, which he served faithfully until his retirement in 1988. George will be greatly missed by Jean, his wife of 65 years, his six children (George R., Patty, Tom, Fred, Mary, and Beth), along with 21 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 12, at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, Oviedo, Florida.
