He was born on October 7, 1925 in Baltimore, Maryland to the late Thomas and Regina Kimmitt. He worked for the Department of Defense as an Equipment Specialist. Upon retirement he earned his PhD in Public Administration and served as a college professor with his last years at UCF. He loved politics, reading, golf, and the beach.
He is preceded in death by his wives Dorothy Stromblad Kimmitt and Laura Estelle McKeever Kimmitt, and six siblings.
Survivors include his children, Francis (Judy), Teresa (Mike), Sharon (Dean), Gerard J., II (Beverly), Mary Beth, Judi (Bob), Patti (Tom), Terry, Mary (David), Mac, Don (Suzanne), Laura (Mark), Carmel, and Matthew (Sandra), and a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Thursday, February 3, 2022 at Baldwin Fairchild Funeral Home, 7520 Aloma Avenue, Winter Park, Florida 32792. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 am, Friday, February 4, 2022 at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church 526 N. Park Avenue, Winter Park FL 32789 with interment following in Glen Haven Memorial Park.
