Helen Serros, 92, was surrounded by her loving family as she went home to the Lord on Friday, December 1, 2017. Born in Turlock, CA to Victor and Lena Gentile, she and her family moved to Orlando two years later. She attended St. Joseph Academy, now St. James Cathedral School, from kindergarten through high school. She worked with her father at Gentile Bros. Co. until marrying the love of her life, Andy, in 1950. For 57 years they devoted their lives to each other and to raising their six children. They were inseparable and a beautiful example of when two become one. She was happiest in her kitchen, selflessly preparing family meals and greeting all who entered her home with a warm heart. She left a legacy of a strong Catholic faith and placing all her trust in God. Her love of family was expressed in everything she did. Helen was predeceased by her husband, Andy, her son, Victor, and her sister, Vera Lee Gentile. She is survived by her sisters, Ruth Gentile and Dolores Gentile, her five daughters, Marianne (Bill) Lyon, Nancy (Wyatt) Carrell, Carolyn (Fran) Mullin, Shirley Welch, Joanne Serros, 16 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren with one on the way. Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 6, 2017 from 5-7 pm at Baldwin Fairchild Funeral Home, 301 NE Ivanhoe Blvd, Orlando, FL 32804. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, December 7, 2017 at 10:00 am at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, 526 N Park Ave, Winter Park, FL 32789.

I am so sorry that I did not know about Helen's passing until now. Although it has been a number of years since we talked and visited and over 30 years since I typed recipes for her to give to all her daughters during the years I worked with Andy, I thought of her and the entire family all the time. Helen was the epitome of a lady as Andy was of a gentleman and I am so glad to have known them and will miss them but am happy in knowing they are together again. My deepest sympathy to Joanne and Carolyn and Fran and everyone.

I'm so sorry to hear of the loss of your dear sweet mother. I feel like I've grown up with your whole family in pictures. Your mother shared every holiday, vacation and of course birthdays with such pride when I worked at Champagne Color. My thoughts and prayers are with you all at this difficult time.

Such a sweet lady who touched my heart over 50 years ago as Joanne's best friend starting kindergarten at St. James. I will never forget her gentle kindness. My prayers are with her in the midst of Heaven's angels and with the Serros family for God's comfort in the loss of their loving mother.

I visited with Helen Serros in the last few months. She was just as nice then as she was many decades ago when I first met her. What a sweetheart, a very nice lady. She and Andy knew my parents since they were all teenagers. For certain she will be very missed by all who had the fortune to know her.

Helen was a wonderful lady and a dear
friend of mine and my family. I went to school with both Helen and Andy. Our two families kept in touch with each other over the years. I am 98 years of age and was one year behind 100 year old Ruth in high school!
I am unable to go to the wake or the funeral.
The Serros family will be in our thoughts
and prayers.

It was so wonderful to see all the photos and remember how intertwined our family's life have been, Thank you so much for sharing. Even though I haven't seen your mom in years, I can so vividly remember how warmly she would greet me. She is a wonderful woman and I will miss her.
