I worked alongside Helen for one year at Greater Orlando Airport Authority. She was a caring and compassionate woman, who gave of herself every day. If you ever needed anything, she was there to assist in whatever way she could or offer the best advice I never heard anyone else give. Sage advice at that.

I never was able to know her outside of the office. However, I could tell, her personality at work was the same when away from the office. A true genuine caring spirit. We were all blessed to have known her, for even a brief moment.

I was able to meet my wonderful friend Helen and her husband Chuck at St. John Vianney Catholic Church. Helen and I became a mighty team, teaching Religious Formation every Wednesday evening for more than 10 years. Helen had an incredible talent to work with the most reluctant students and always won their hearts and attention to the lesson being presented. When my mother passed away, Helen brought to the class, a white rose for each student to give me while they expressed their condolences to me. This, was a great lesson on compassion for others! 
Helen would wait for each parent at the end of class and, not matter how mischievous a particular student behaved in our class. She would always look for the positive side, and said “your son or daughter was very vivacious tonight and made us laugh a couple of times!” This, was a great lesson on forgiveness and appreciation for all!
Helen enjoyed planning our lessons, but especially, our classroom Christmas party, Epiphany, Valentine’s Day, and end-of-the-school-year party! She brought meaningful little presents for each of the children, and emphasized that Baby Jesus loved and cared for each and every one of them, because they were created in His image. This, was a lesson on Christ’s love for all! 
Unfortunately, Helen and I became so busy with our lives that we decided to pass the Religious Education torch to a younger generation, but we always kept in touch and laughed a lot during our long phone conversations and at our dinners during lent’s Fish Fry at St. John’s.

Just recently, I was going through my files to purge some out dated paperwork and ran across a letter Helen sent my husband and myself, dating back to 1998. We happened to cross paths on a flight back from Sacramento, CA. My husband and I were a young couple with our son, only months old. The letter Helen sent us also contained a few pictures Helen took of my husband, myself, and our little son with the pilot’s cap on his head. In looking over these wonderful memories, I realized I had never thanked Helen for taking the time and thoughtfulness to capture these images for our enjoyment. In my efforts to contact her, I ran across an obituary for Helen. With all the time that has passed from her letter to now, unfortunately, I missed Helen by a few days. Our condolences and sympathy to Helen’s family, I’m sure her presence will be a great void for all. For all her friends and family that had the blessing of her friendship through the years, I thank God for our short encounter with Helen. I pray for God’s comfort during this time of loss and that Helen knew Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and received Him in her heart, that I might see her in eternity.

I was a former colleague of Helen's at GOAA.  I remember her always being very cordial and nice to me, whenever we saw each other at the airport.  My sincerest condolences to her family.  I pray that God comforts you all during this time of bereavement.  May you find peace in the wonderful memories of the time you spent with her.  Rest in peace Helen!
