She was born in Riverhead, New York on December 18, 1929 to the late Sophie (Setek) & Louis Waski, Sr.
Known to all as “Miss Irene”, she worked for years in the Eastern Long Island retail fashion industry, beginning at Paula Tara’s on Main Street in Riverhead, then at The Cockle Shell in Westhampton Beach, finishing her career at Frank Adams Menswear, also of Westhampton Beach. She was an avid golfer, and loved restoring antique furniture, which she obtained while traveling among the upstate New York antique auctions. She was very active in her church, the St. Stephen Catholic Community in Winter Springs, FL, attending daily Mass and participating in the church craft group, where she sewed and made items for their annual fund raising sale.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Willie Grodski, parents Louie and Sophie Waski, sister Jane (Waski) O'Leary and brother in law Tim O'Leary.
Irene is survived by her dear son, Bill Grodski, daughter in law Joan (Maass) Grodski, grandson Andrew Grodski, brother Louis Waski, Jr., and sister in law Patricia Waski.
Mrs. Grodski will be laid to rest beside her husband at St. John the Evangelist Parish Cemetery in Riverhead, New York.
