I'm wanting to express my deepest sympathies to the family in the loss of Mr. Jim Mahaffey, I had the privilege of knowing him through my mother, Deane Brandt when she was the comptroller for over 20 years. My mother was made to feel like family as he stood by her during her later years of declining health and I always appreciated that she had him to count on when I was working out of state.
I will always have fond memories of our time living at the Carlton Arms properties in Orlando/Winter Park and wish the family success in carrying on in Jim's memory!

Jim’s obituary and his sincere love for his family and his community would make his Mom and Dad very proud and happy. The Mahaffey family (through Tom Senior’s vision, and Jim & Mark’s dedication and leadership) has left an indelible mark on the state of Florida and all those who are privileged to know the Mahaffey family.
Jim definitely had a full life with his love of family and tradition, his community involvement and his varied interests. His mother and father would be so very proud of him.
Jim and Mark have remained so close as brothers and partners. Their loyalty and respect for each other are examples to all who know them. They even have symbols that represent them to each other and are important to their lives - like their “personal trademark.”
Jim will be missed, but never forgotten.
Our love and prayers are with all the Mahaffey family,
Hugh and Jeanmarie McGowan

Our thoughts and prayers are for Jim, Terry and the whole Mahaffey. Jim’s success with the Mahaffey Company has provided not only unique and architecturally based living units, but has provided an economic boom for a substantial part of central and western Florida!

Jim was my boss for 41 years. In addition to being kind, thoughtful and generous...he had a great sense of humor and was so funny.
If they ever create a sarcasm font...it would look like his initials....JWM.
In the early days he would leave me written instructions and then call to ask if I had read his “love notes”.
To this day some of us still use that term for explanations.
My best memory of JWM...?
If there was a situation where you would try to talk with him about colleagues unkindly...he would stop you from doing so.
After 41 years of hard work and laughter, you just become family and friends ...this is what happens. He ALWAYS greeted you with a smile.
Based on that... I will say goodbye, Godspeed and love to you JWM.
I will miss you ❤️🕊🙏
