Our mother, Jean Louise Trice, 95, passed away Friday, June 15, 2018 in Winter Park Florida. She was born on October 19, 1922 in North Canton Ohio. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Major James C. Trice.
Jean was part of The Greatest Generation – experiencing the childhood loss of both of her parents, Clarence and Laura Hartong, the Great Depression, World War II, hard times and great times. Prior to marrying, as part of the world war effort, she worked as a Rosie the Riveter.
As a proud Army wife she lived in Japan, Austria, and France before moving to Winter Park with her husband and daughters in 1963. She was a homemaker, devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She loved quilting and sewing – even making beautiful gowns for our Barbie Dolls.
Mom was also a wonderful cook. Everyone asked for her apple pies. She enjoyed watching all sports, especially rooting for her beloved Gators and she had a wonderful sense of humor.
She was a woman dedicated to God and her family. As a member of the First Church of God she actively devoted her time and talents. She began attending the church as a young college student in Anderson, Indiana and was very happy to find the same church in the Orlando area. She later became a member of the Maranatha Fellowship Church in Winter Park. Jean lived her life by example, never speaking poorly of others, always willing to offer a helping hand and standing by her principles.
She was adored by all and will be dearly missed by her daughters, Lynn Ellen Hudson (husband Stan - who we know was really her favorite) and Mary Beth Trice; grandchildren of who she was so proud, Christopher Hudson (wife Suparna), and Sarah Hudson Antunes (husband Eduardo); two beautiful great-grandchildren, Meera Jean and Logan; as well as her youngest sister, Eleanor Sparks.
A memorial service will be held at Maranatha Fellowship Church on Saturday, July 7, 2018 at 12:00 p.m., with a luncheon to immediately follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Maranatha Fellowship Church at 1806 East End Avenue, Winter Park, Florida 32789.
