

Joan Bledsoe Steward, of Ocoee, passed away May 17, 2011. She was born January 12, 1932 at St. Anne's Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio. She moved to Central Florida at the age of 9 months. She attended Hillcrest Elementary School, and graduated from Winter Park High School in 1950. Joan furthered her education by attending Florida Southern College, and received he Master's Degree from Stetson University. She was an educator, dear sister, and mother. She taught school in Orange County for 22 years, having taught at Killarny, Lakemont, Park Avenue, and Dillard Street Elementary Schools. She was active with the First United Methodist Church of Winter Park and St. Luke's United Methodist Church. She was an active member of Loch Haven Art Center's Council of 101, being president for a short time. She was a Real-Estate Broker-Salesman with Don Saunders Realtor, Inc. for eight years. She loved to travel with her family and friends through most of the United States, and made several trips to Europe. In 1962, Joan married Harrison B. Steward lll. They had two sons, Harrison B Steward lV, and John Clay Steward. She had seven grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Harrison V, Savannah, Donald, Michael, John Clay and Abbigail. She loved spending time with her family, and photographing her memories. She was preceded in death by her husband and parents, John D. and Georgia Bledsoe, and her brother David. She is survived by both of her sons, the seven grandchildren, her brother Tom Bledsoe and wife Carol; sister-in-law, Sue Steward; and David, Stacey, Emily, Georgia and Carter Bledsoe; Steven Steward and Betsy Eveland and family; and many dear friends. Joan loved her family, her friends and her Lord. God is good!
