Joan Fries Chason

DOB – 3/30/1938

The family of Joan Chason of Orlando, Florida, is saddened to announce her passing on May 14, 2025, at 87.

She was predeceased by her loving husband of 48 years, Robert Chason, her two sisters, Mary Agnes Fries Ryan and Irene Hartwigsen, and her brother Joseph Fries. Joan is survived by and will be lovingly remembered by her sister, Virginia Fries; her brother, Michael Fries; her three sons, Robert, Mark, and Guy; her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

Over the years, Joan was active in the Good Shepherd parish as an RCIA catechist and Baptism Preparation; she mentored engaged and newly married couples, led hospitality events, and regularly cooked for the priests. Along with church activities, Joan was active in her community and often made fairy tale story scenes for the children's area at the public library. Joan was also an avid artist who excelled at making fine dolls and beautiful sewing pieces. She used her incredible sewing talents to create one-of-a-kind burial gowns for stillborn babies.

She will be missed. A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 AM, on Thursday, May 22nd, 2025, at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 5900 Oleander Dr, Orlando, FL 32807
