June Elizabeth McGill, age 88, of Winter Park, Florida passed away on August 6, 2020. June was the sixth of nine children born to Walter Raymond and Helen Jensen McGill, in Brooklyn N.Y. June 24, 1932. Her six brothers, Walter, Richard, Joel, Loren, Robert (Bob), and John (Jack), older sister Helen McGill Busby, and younger sister Florence McGill Marsh preceded her in death. The family moved to Geneva, Florida during the summer of 1941. She received a BS degree at FSU in 1954, and later earned her M. Ed. Degree from Rollins. While attending FSU, she was tapped for Garnet Key, a leadership honorary. She was also nominated to be in the 1954 edition of Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges.
She taught physical education and mathematics at Winter Park High School for thirty-five years. She was sponsor of many extra-curricular activities while at the school, among those: junior and senior varsity cheerleaders. She also coached the girls’ swim team for many years. While teaching mathematics she sponsored many students in the Orange County Mathematics Contest. June retired as chairman of the mathematics department in August, 1989.
June is survived by thirteen, loving nieces, and nephews. She is also survived by several great nieces and nephews. Baldwin-Fairchild Funeral Home-Goldenrod Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
