She was born on October 24, 1931, in La Porte, Ille-et-Vilaine, France to her father Daniel Massardier and mother Rose Mathilde Galopin. She was the third of four children. Marie- Jose spent her younger years working at the family Carnival where she met her husband Curtis Roy Tinkes on his first Tour of Duty to France for the United Sates Air Force. Together they had four children, Phillip A. Tinkes, Roland P. Tinkes, Patricia A. Tinkes-Carmona, and Dolores A. Tinkes. Marie-Jose (Josey to her friends in the states) was a free spirit, who loved beautiful music, the perfect crisp beer, and most of all her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
