

Mary E. Lanthier passed away August 8, 2012 at her home in Altamonte Springs, FL with her family by her side. Mary was born September 13, 1939 to Carl W. Garnto, Sr. and Ruthie Mae (Headley) Garnto in Eustis, FL.
Mary lived her childhood years in Umatilla, FL and graduated from Umatilla High School in 1957. She went to Jones Business College in Orlando, FL. Mary worked for McNamara Pontiac, Orlando Motors, Orange Buick, Roger Holler Chevrolet, and Classic Honda as a title clerk. She also worked for Southeast Bank and Earl K. Wood, Tax Collector.
Mary married Victor Lanthier on December 21, 1963. They had two children, Mark H. Lanthier and Michele Lanthier, and her dog babies Jasmine and Ariel.
Mary was an avid fisherperson and loved being on her boat fishing and shrimping. The family enjoyed camping with the StarCraft Camping Club and traveling all over this country and Canada on their vacations. She loved to go to her river house on the St. Johns River in Astor, FL.
She loved her special sports teams, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Florida Gators, and the Orlando Magic and could hardly wait for each season to start. She had many interests such as romance novels, knitting, and sewing. She always had a soft spot in her heart for people less fortunate.
Mary is survived by her husband of 49 years, Victor Lanthier, by her children, Mark H. Lanthier of Casselberry, FL, and Michele Lanthier Thropp and husband Chris of Deland, FL and her precious dogs Jasmine and Ariel. By her brothers, Carl W. Garnto, Jr. and his wife Jan of Titusville, FL, and Herbert Garnto of Willow, Alaska. By her sisters L. Ann Emerson of North Stratford, NH, Evelyn Sexton of Eustis, FL, and Margaret Garnto of Altamonte Springs, FL.
Mary was predeceased by her father and mother and by two brothers, James E. Garnto and Richard I. Garnto, and by one brother-in-law, Jon Emerson.
Carey Hand Cox-Parker Funeral Home at 1350 West Fairbanks Avenue Winter Park, FL is in charge of the arrangements. The family visitation will be from 8:00am-11:00am on August 15, 2012. There will be a public visitation August 15, 2012 from 9:00am-11:00am. A funeral service will follow at 11:00am at the Funeral Home. A committal service will be at 12:15pm at Highland Memory Gardens (3329 East Semoran Blvd Apopka, FL).
