

Melanie Ann Stockemer of Winter Park, Florida passed peacefully at home on September 17, 2024 at the age of 53. Melanie was a loving daughter, sister, niece, cousin, and aunt. Melanie grew up in Rochester, Michigan where she graduated from Rochester Adams High School in 1989. She had a lifelong love of ballet and dance, which she enjoyed studying at Western Michigan University, along with kinesiology. After graduating from WMU, Melanie worked at Ameritech before moving to Orlando, Florida in pursuit of sunshine and warm weather. After moving to Florida, Melanie successfully pursued certification in massage therapy and also worked for Hannover Re. She was always an animal lover, and especially loved her kitty Cosmo. Melanie was an avid reader, and loved expressing herself through creative craft projects. Family played an important role in Melanie's life. Her trips to Michigan in the summer and winter for family visits were always special times to be together. She loved her cousins like sisters, and adored her nieces who adored her just as equally. Above all, Melanie will be remembered for her sweet smile, positive presence, and thoughtful nature. She is survived by her parents, Dennis and Sandra Stockemer; siblings, Peter (Kim) Stockemer, Lexa (Kyle) Ferrill, and Meagan (Amanda Ruud) Stockemer; and uncle Richard Simon, as well as several aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her father, Peter Simon. In memory of Melanie, donations may be made to Orange County Animal Services (2769 Conroy Rd, Orlando, FL 32839).
