Michael Foley Sammis

Mike was born on August 22, 1957, in Glen Cove, NY, and moved to Winter Park, FL in 1965. He was a Roman Catholic and attended St. Margaret Mary Catholic School and graduated from Winter Park High School (1976). He attended Santa Fe College, Gainesville,FL, where his love for the Florida Gators strengthened, and he remained a dedicated and faithful fan throughout his life.

Mike enlisted in the Air Force in February 1982 proudly served as an Information Management/Security Specialist until his honorable discharge in September 1991. During his enlistment he served in Tucson, Arizona; Fairford, United Kingdom; and Box Elder, South Dakota where he earned multiple medals and ribbons. Prior to Mike’s retirement in 2019, he was the Grounds Maintenance Supervisor at National Car Rental, San Antonio, TX.

Mike thoroughly enjoyed fishing and hunting, especially turkey hunting with his dad in over the years in Florida, Texas and South Dakota.

Mike is survived by his daughter, Stephine Sammis (Eric Towler); sister, Maureen Bowman (Tom); brother, Patrick Sammis; nieces Victoria Hill (Tyler), Siobhan Magno (Christian), Keeley Bowman, and Kendall Sammis; great-nephews and nieces, Tayden, Haylee, Hunter and Cameron.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, John (Jack) Sammis and Catherine (Kitty) Ballance.

In honor of Michael, please wear his favorite colors - orange and blue. Visitation will be held Saturday, January 3, 2026 from 12 Noon – 2:00 pm at Baldwin-Fairchild Goldenrod, 7520 Aloma Ave., Winter Park, FL 32792.
