In loving memory of the precious and delightfully funny Monica Anne Walker, we celebrate the life of an extraordinary daughter, sister, cousin, and friend. Her brilliance and quick wit illuminated our lives with joy and laughter. Monica peacefully embarked on the next leg of her eternal journey due to natural causes on January 16, 2024, at Advent Health in Orlando, Florida.
Born on June 12, 1979, in Cincinnati, OH, Monica's vibrant spirit thrived as she grew up in Northern KY, attending Conner Middle and High School before the Walker family's move to Kokomo, IN. There, she continued to dazzle, showcasing her remarkable intelligence and diligent work ethic.
Monica's educational journey commenced early, entering Purdue University at the age of 15, and later pursuing her legal studies at Regent University Law School in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Her brilliance shone through various competitions, winning the 1L Moot Court Competition and achieving notable success in national contests.
Professionally, Monica devoted a decade to an insurance defense firm in Richmond, Virginia, before her journey led her to Orlando. There, she navigated sophisticated mortgage matters at a private firm and eventually became a partner at Cole, Scott & Kissane law firm, where she served her clients with unwavering dedication for seven fulfilling years. Her colleagues remember her not only as a brilliant attorney but also as a true friend and team player.
Monica's warmth and kindness earned her the endearing title of Best Friend by everyone who knew her well. Though her loss is sudden and tragic, solace is found in the knowledge that she embraced a strong and personal Christian faith throughout her brilliant yet brief life.
Preceded in death by her husband Thomas Sheehan, mother Banjong “Yao” Walker, sisters Angela Hasebe, Amanda Walker, and grandparents Edgar Huston and Oma Lucille Walker. Monica is survived by her sister Christina Held (John Paul), brother Lukas Walker, father Burtis Walker (Rachel), step-sons Conner and Caden Sheehan, along with countless close relatives and friends who will grieve her loss but also rejoice in the fond memories of her.
A memorial service celebrating Monica's life will take place at Baldwin-Fairchild Funeral Home, 7520 Aloma Ave., Winter Park, FL 32792, on Friday, January 26, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by a light reception. All friends and family are wholeheartedly welcome to attend.
