Nemsy was born to Nemesio Sr. and Agripina on December 31, 1939 in Manila, Philippines. As a child, Nemsy excelled in school and as a young man came to the United States to complete degrees in Chemical Engineering and Business Administration at USF.
Nemsy met his wife Perla in the Philippines. She joined him in the US soon after, and they were married at St. Kevin’s Church in San Francisco in 1965. They went on to have three children. He began his Christian service focusing on the Cursillo Ministries, the Legion of Mary, and the Knights of Columbus. In 1979, they moved their family to Orlando, Florida.
In addition to being a dedicated and loving father and maintaining his engineering career, Nemsy always found time to serve God. He expanded his service to Prison Ministry, Chaplaincy @ the US Naval Base, the Novena Group, and authored books of Catholic spirituality. Nemsy was ordained a Deacon in 1988 in Winter Park, FL, where he served the community of Saint Margaret Mary Church until his passing.
Throughout his entire life, he shared his unwavering faith with those who surrounded him and modeled a life of service to the Lord.
Nemsy joins his parents, his sister Janet, and his grandson Noel Spencer, in Heaven. He is survived by his wife, Perla, his sister, Grace, his children, Portia, Neme, Noel and his granddaughter, Gabriella.
Matthew 25:35-40
For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.
A funeral service will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, November 6 at Saint Margaret Mary Church. If you’d like to continue Nemsy’s passion for service, please consider in lieu of flowers, a donation to the Ministries at Saint Margaret Mary to honor his memory.
