Sadie Louise Singleton, 101, of Winter Park, Florida, passed away on May 31, 2020. She was born March 4, 1919 in Cordele, Georgia. She graduated from Gillispie High School in Cordele, Georgia and went on to Savannah State College in Savannah, Georgia where she was a basketball standout. Sadie and James Singleton were married in 1940 in Cordele ,Ga. and moved to Central Florida in 1945.
Sadie was an active member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church when she first relocated here and later on became an active member of the Winter Park Presbyterian Church, where she was a Deaconess. She was an avid reader, and loved to volunteer in her community. She volunteered for Habitat for Humanity, doing bookkeeping and time keeping; she was a Pink Lady for Winter Park Memorial Hospital; she regularly participated in the Clown Ministry, and was the Captain of her Neighbor Watch. She also enjoyed quilting, traveling and taking cruises. She visited many national and international destinations including Niagara Falls, Chicago, New York City, Detroit, Nassau, and Jerusalem.
Sadie is survived by her son, Larry (Gwendolyn) Singleton Detroit, Michigan and daughter, Sadie Singleton Winter Park, Florida; 38 grandchildren, and several great and great great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents Honor and Annie Bell Clark, husband, James, Sr. , her sister Madie C. Johnson, her brothers Jessie and Willie B. Clark, and her son, James, Jr.,
Funeral Service will be conducted on Saturday at Baldwin Fairchild, Goldenrod Chapel, 7520 Aloma Ave., Winter Park. Family will receive friends on Friday also at the funeral home from 5 to 8pm and Saturday from 1pm till time of service.
