She was born on January 25, 1936 in Wallsend, England to Elias Ewen and Mary Noble.
She met Wesley Berry Masters in London when Wesley was stationed there with the US Air Force. They took a two week boat trip to America so that they can get married in Wesley's family home in South Carolina on December 13, 1953.
She was a high school graduate, but in her thirties, she took some college classes just for fun.
She worked part time for a while to buy herself a car, but her passion in life was her family.
Valerie was proudly one of Jehovah's Witnesses, baptized on May 25, 1975.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Elias Ewan and Mary Noble; her husband, Wesley Masters; her sister and brother-in-law, Wendolyn and John Manifield; her daughter, Janice Masters; and her grandson, Brandon Murray.
She is survived by her daughters, Donna Cox with husband Jay, and Patricia Masters. Also her grandchildren, Justin Murray with wife Johana, and Melissa Murray.
Valerie was the kindest person who always brought out the best in everyone. She loved animals and hated cooking. Her favorite things to do were to go for long drives, go out to lunch, and be in the fresh air. She still had her accent even though she'd been in America for over 70 years.
Grandma's go to advice was always "Live according to knowledge". She will be missed greatly, and may we live according to the knowledge she has shown us through her wisdom and her care.
