Larry Joseph Stradeski – It is with great sadness we share the news of Larry’s passing. After a short battle with cancer, he passed away peacefully with family by his side in the Pasqua Hospital on Aug 30th at the age of 70.
Larry was born in Grayson, SK on June 14, 1949 to parents Charles and Elizabeth (nee Flegel) Stradeski. He attended Columbia school until grade 8 at which time he started helping his dad on the family farm. Aug 2, 1975 he married the love of his life, Lucille Andersen, and they continued to farm. In 1976 they were blessed with their son Jason and 2 years later their daughter Jackie completed the family. They continued to farm until 1983 when different business ventures took them to many different communities throughout the province including Grenfell, Melville, Foston, Yorkton, Neudorf and finally back to Grenfell where they owned and operated Grenfell Family Foods and later the Grenfell Homestead Motel until retirement in 2009.
Larry was an active community member and was a current member of the Grenfell Lions Club. Throughout his life, Larry enjoyed playing ball, curling, golfing, fishing, camping, cooking, coaching/managing Jason and Jackie’s ball and hockey teams, and following and supporting his granddaughter’s in everything they did. Breelyn and Jaylyn were his absolute pride and joy.
Larry will be remembered by his family and friends for his famous campfires, his amazing cooking (especially his fish fry’s), his big kind heart, his gentle soul and his willingness to help out with anything at any time.
Larry was predeceased by his parents Charles and Elizabeth, baby brother Albert, father and mother in law Clarence and Irene Andersen, and brothers in law Willy Selin, Gordon Koch, Larry Topliss.
Larry is survived by his loving wife Lucille; son Jason; daughter Jackie (Mike); special granddaughters Breelyn and Jaylyn; brother Butch (Lise); sisters Pat, Therese, Jo (Brian), Gladys (John), Anita (Albert), Gail (Ron), Lou (Al), Sadie (Dave); in laws Vivian (Jim), Chris, Doreen (Bernie), Elsie (Mal), Sylvia (Dennis), Merv (Dawn); and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
