OBITUARY

Anne Stringer

July 25, 1943January 21, 2021

It is with heavy hearts, that we, the family of Anne Mary Stringer (nee Petrychyn) announce her passing on Thursday, January 21, 2021 at the age of 77.

Anne was born in Lemberg, SK on July 25th, 1943. She attended Lemberg school until she met the love of her life, Lester, at a baseball game at Moffat. They were married on September 22, 1959. They farmed south of Wolseley, in the Moffat district and Anne also worked as a nurses aide at Lakeside Nursing Home in Wolseley for over 30 years. Together they raised six children.

Now comes the time when we had to say goodbye, which is never easy especially since she was such a loving and caring mother and grandmother, and for that we have all truly been blessed, and she always blessed others with her giving nature. If you were there you were fed...or asked repeatedly if you wanted anything. You were welcomed for a visit, welcomed to play games, cards, whichever. That was the word you’d think of when you thought of her, welcomed. It never mattered who you were, where you came from, if other people outcasted you, you had a place there. You were greeted with pleasantries, and treated like a welcomed guest. Her home was a home to others, just as much as it was to her. The world lost someone who is the type of person, that the world needs more of, not less. It is a sad time, indeed...but the suffering for her is over.

Anne was predeceased by her husband, Lester in 2018; her grandson Journey Domokos in infancy in 2012; her parents Stephen & Angela Petrychyn; her brothers: Nick, Mike, Joe, John, Steve and Peter Petrychyn; her sister Mary Powell and her sister-in-law Jean Petrychyn.

Anne is survived by her children and grandchildren: Bill (Laurie) Stringer and children Kyle and Monica (Brendan Mowchenko); Robert (Brenda) Stringer and daughters, Kyrsten, Jurrai, Lorena and Jenaya; Ken (Karen Prima) Stringer, his son Daniel Studlin, stepson Bryce (Amanda) Prima and children, Caleb and Cadence, stepson, Nevin Prima; Debbie (Kirk) Bishop and sons, Dorian and Christian; Cory (Connie) Stringer and children, Tyrell, Jesse and Christina; Stacey (Garth) Domokos and children Rayanne and Caleb. Anne is also survived by her sister, Joanne (Tom) Zaplachinski; her brothers, Willie (Heike) Petrychyn and Marrion (Fran) Petrychyn and sisters-in-law Marge Petrychyn and Betty Petrychyn as well as many nieces and nephews and good longtime friends, too numerous to mention.

Private family prayers was held in the chapel of Tubman Funeral Home, Wolseley on Friday, January 29, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. A private family funeral mass was celebrated in St. Anne's R.C. Church, Wolseley on Saturday, January 30, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. by Rev. Francis Hengen. Interment followed in the Moffat Cemetery. Pallbearers are her sons and grandsons: Ken Stringer, Cory Stringer, Kyle Stringer, Christian Bishop, Tyrell Stringer and Jesse Stringer.

Live streaming links for both the prayers and mass/interment are posted below.

Memorial donations may be made in honour of mom to the St. Anne’s Catholic Church, Box 100, Wolseley, SK S0G 5H0; Moffat Cemetery, c/o Carla McCall, Box 622, Wolseley, SK S0G 5H0; Shriner’s Children’s Hospital or the Canadian Diabetes association.

We would like to thank the staff at the Regina General Hospital for the excellent care mom received in her final few days. The compassion and support shown to mom and to us was greatly appreciated.

Bill, Rob, Ken , Debbie, Cory , Stacey and all of Anne’s extended family my heartfelt sympathy. Your mom was always such a pleasure to visit with. Whether it be many years ago at the annual Moffat picnics or in more recent years when she was a patient at the Indian Head hospital she was always ready for a chat to catch up on days gone by. Your moms smile and her beautiful giving heart will be missed by many many people. Take comfort knowing that your parents have been reunited. 💕

My deepest sympathy for the loss of your Mother! All those lovely memories of your parents! They will be kept close to my heart! As a family keep all those memories close to your hearts, she will be greatly missed by all! One special memory that enters my mind quite often, is playing cards till 5:00 am and them having breakfast, then going home. . . Their house was open to everyone and with open arms and you felt very welcome! You were always fed, coffee, tea or chocolate milk and pie, or cookies. Anne loved baking, she made the best pie crust I tasted. Anne and Lester you will be greatly missed! How great thou Art!
