

Charles (Chuck) was born three of seven children on November 17, 1942 in Lemberg, SK to parents Ruby and Lawrence Ward. He attended school in Lemberg until grade 10 when he moved to Regina and completed grade 12 at Scott Collegiate.
After graduation he went to work for the Royal Bank and moved to Cut Knife, SK. He later obtained a position in sales with Burns Meats where he was able to travel throughout the province. Charles had a passion for learning and developing new skills through different roles. It was this passion that motivated him to find his position with the Department of Agriculture where he worked as a meat inspector then moved into an administrative role within the Prairie Farm Rehabilitation Administration Department. He then decided to go back to school and earn a degree in Business Administration. He then obtained a role with the Employment and Immigration Department of the Federal Government where he worked until he retired.
Charles was motivated to make his community, in which he lived, better and because of this he went back to work as housing authority manager after sitting on the Fort Qu’Appelle Housing Authority Board. This commitment to taking an active role within the community is reflected in the many positions he held, such as the Prairie Valley School Division, Touchwood/Regina Health Region, the Fort Qu’Appelle Housing Authority and the condo boards in which he lived in both Regina and Fort Qu’Appelle. He also participated on the B-Say-Tah Council.
Charles made time to coach baseball and hockey and played senior hockey on the Fort Qu’Appelle Combines team.
In retirement Charles and Suzanne spent many winters driving south exploring the U.S. He enjoyed golfing at many different golf courses along the way. He especially enjoyed Arizona where they spent a number of winters.
Charles had a very strong commitment to family and his extended family. He enjoyed his time with children and grandchildren at family gatherings and always was there to provide a listening ear or supportive advice.
Charles will be greatly missed by his wife Suzanne; children: Kim (Kevin) Flynn, Peder (Tammy) Ward, Anna (Shawn) Ward and Morgan (Megan) Ward; sister Doreen Hollinger; brother Larry (Sandra) Ward; sister Carol (Brian) Taylor; sister Karen (Ron) Eltom; brother Grant (Eleanor) Ward; brother Tracey (Patty) Ward; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandchild, and many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Charles was predeceased by parents Ruby and Lawrence Ward; brother-in-law Jacob Hollinger and one grandchild.
No funeral or memorial service is immediately planned, the family will notify loved ones in the spring when a gathering will be held.
